Description
For the past 7 months, I have been hard at work creating an animated short film
completely from the ground up. This short film I have titled Sparky and Steel: Renegades.
Imagine a fantastical and animated world filled with quirky talking animal characters,
where a trio of bombastic adventuring canines who go by the names of Sparky, Steel, and
Dawn, are out to find an ancient lost treasure from a long bygone civilization. They aren’t
the only ones, however. A diabolical army of White Wolf soldiers are out for the treasure as
well, led by the ruthless General Arc, who is seeking revenge against Sparky and his friends.
With this short film I want to tell a story of unlikely friends who work together in the face of
evil, and when challenged by a vengeful force must stay loyal and look out for one another.
This short film I plan to have ready for the Senior New Media Studies showcase,
additionally I plan to release it on Thrill Studios, my personal YouTube channel. I aim to fill a
gap in the YouTube video market, as I do not see much support for indie animation on
YouTube as a whole. I also want to argue that animation should not be labeled strictly as a
medium meant only for kids, as in my short film I am incorporating elements of suspense to
keep an audience on their toes. My animation process involves a workflow stemming from
television animation productions, where I create a script, design 3D character models and
environments for the film, and animate their entire adventure from start to finish. I expect
this film to be a joyful narrative hit, as it balances elements of action, adventure, humor,
and suspense in a way that will surely be entertaining for viewers.
