Jim Lothrop '77. Jim was an outstanding athlete while a student at Alma College earning seven varsity awards and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. In track he had many accomplishments: Second place, NCAA Division III National Championships, Javelin, All-America in 1977; Only Scot to qualify for the Olympic trials in 1988 and 1992; Fifth place 1988 US Mobil Track Athletics Congress Outdoor National Championships; MIAA champion, javelin in 1977; MIAA champion, discus in 1975 and 1976; MIAA champion, shot put in 1976. - National qualifier, javelin in 1976. - National qualifier, discus in 1977. - Scots’ javelin record holder. - Scots’ discus record holder.
