Abstract
It has been a good year in the Arts at Alma College. It has seen attempts in all of the various media. There have been experimental movies, plays, poetry, short stories, even a novel by committee. In spite of the political slant which this year has seemed to have taken, there is more involvement in the arts than in any of the past four years. Curiously, much of the work follows the comic vein and perhaps this is due to the currentness of the Black Humor as a literary fashion. Notwithstanding the similarity of mood, there is a certain breadth in terms of technique. This year we are adding a song and a prose ballad in the spirit of the "talking-blues". The Pine River Anthology represents the best of the literary attempts of the past year at Alma College. We hope you like it.
