Abstract
A pinion is, in essence, a hinge. It is a connective point that brings together two things to serve an ultimate function, like the small cog between two larger ones that allows both to turn and make the mechanical motion of clockwork hands possible. It is the natural joint on a bird’s wings that holds them to the body and enables the whole to soar through the skies and between the trees.
What this magazine is, then, is a pinion. It brings together two very different departments, English and Art, and allows them to create something that neither could do alone. It is the hinge between us, the connection that keeps us working together to create something bigger than ourselves. Without it, these students who had the courage to submit their works would have not been able to express their desires, their fears, and their passions to the community.
So please: explore, indulge, open our hinges and discover some of yours. Maybe you will find your wings and make some connections for yourself.
