Alumnus Charles Maxwell "Max" Novak poses in his office. Max Novak graduated in 1934 with double majors in history and mathematics. He played football and basketball, and served on the Alma College Student Booster club. From Max's eulogy: "Max earned a full ride athletic scholarship to Alma where he played football and basketball. The scholarship was really a job. He cleaned the fieldhouse for 25 cents an hour, and slept in a little closet-sized room. When a knee injury ended his athletics, he was still allowed to keep his job."
