Abstract
It is hard to define what makes a piece of art affect us. Sometimes it is the splash of color, sometimes the lack of color. Sometimes it is the way in which words sing out in a whisper. Sometimes it is an indefinable feeling that sweeps you up and eclipses all else around you. That is why for the 2007-2008 edition of the Pine River Anthology we chose the theme of "eclipse," because when a piece of art really connects with you, there is nothing else that
matters for that short stretch of time in which you are together. It blinds you to all else and leaves you in awe of its beauty and mystery, and it leaves an afterimage that stays with you always. We would like to thank McKay Press for their many years of service in printing the Anthology, the English and Art departments, as well as Student Congress, for their support, and all of the artists and writers who gave us a chance to be blinded by the beauty of their work. Without all of you, the Pine River Anthology would not be possible. Thank you.
